Introduction

I'm a senior frontend developer with over fourteen years of hands-on experience. I've worked in international, multidisciplinary teams, and I'm just as comfortable working on my own.

Years of working at digital agencies gave me a strong eye for detail and design, and working at product companies like Bird and Albert Heijn sharpened my product thinking. I work quickly and precisely, and my code is clean and to the point. My expertise is React/Next.js with TypeScript, I'm comfortable writing backend code in Java and Kotlin too, and I'm always open to exploring new technologies.

Besides TypeScript, I'm experienced with a wide range of styling solutions, including CSS, Sass, Styled Components, vanilla-extract, Stitches and Tailwind CSS. I also work with testing libraries like Vitest, Jest and Cypress.

I'm a native Dutch speaker but I also have a strong command of the English language.

Working experience

May 2025 – presentsenior frontend developer at Albert Heijn

technologies used: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript, Java, Kotlin

At Albert Heijn I'm part of the team building Edge, the proprietary retail media platform of Ahold Delhaize. Edge powers on-site display ads, sponsored search and in-store digital screens, and gives brand partners one place to plan, launch and measure their campaigns across both physical and digital channels.

The platform is developed by Ahold Delhaize's in-house tech teams and is also used by Ahold Delhaize USA, where it reaches the more than 26 million customers who shop at its brands each week. Besides building the frontend with React, Next.js and TypeScript, I also write backend code in Java and Kotlin.

September 2024 – May 2025frontend engineer at Bird

technologies used: React, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, PostgreSQL

At Bird I greatly improved my product thinking and I also got used to working on a huge codebase. Initially I was part of the business infrastructure team, which was responsible for helping out wherever help was needed.

After that I was part of the admin team and eventually the last remaining developer on it. During this time I worked on our internal sales tool, used by all sales representatives at Bird, and worked closely with the VP of Strategy and Ops to decide which features to build.

Finally, I joined the HR team to work on Bird's new HR product.

May 2023 – August 2024senior frontend developer at DEPT®

technologies used: React, Next.js, Styled Components, vanilla-extract

DEPT® is one of the biggest agencies worldwide and it was a joy working there. I worked on multiple exciting projects, all of them built with React and Next.js. Although my official title was senior developer, in practice I was the lead developer on most of my projects.

December 2022 – May 2023team lead frontend developer at Touchtribe

July 2022 – December 2022lead frontend developer at Touchtribe

technologies used: React, Next.js, Styled Components

I started at Touchtribe as lead frontend developer and was later promoted to team lead. As team lead I guided five frontend developers, held biweekly check-ins with each of them and helped them grow professionally.

July 2020 – July 2022senior frontend developer at code d'azur

technologies used: React, Next.js, Gatsby, Styled Components

Since I was missing the camaraderie digital agencies had to offer, I decided to join code d'azur. Here I started working full-time with technologies like Gatsby and Next.js, for clients such as Philips, Lotus Cars, Knit! Kvadrat and Polestar.

August 2019 – July 2020frontend developer consultant at Cygni NL

technologies used: React, Styled Components

When I joined Cygni, I was the first developer they hired in the Netherlands. I was closely involved in growing the team and took part in many interviews, which greatly improved my soft skills.

During my time at Cygni I worked on one project: helping Sportlink build the software sports associations use to manage their clubs and teams, using React and Styled Components.

January 2018 – August 2019frontend developer at Random Studio

technologies used: React, PixiJS, CSS Modules, Styled Components

Random Studio is where I gained real experience with React. I worked on a lot of cool projects there, including one of my favorite projects ever: a custom webshop for Raf Simons.

February 2016 – January 2018(intern) frontend developer at Momkai

technologies used: Backbone.js, React, CSS Modules

I started at Momkai with my graduation internship. After finishing it and graduating, I continued working there as a frontend developer, primarily on projects built with Backbone.js and React.

March 2012 – January 2016(internship) frontend developer at Atabix Solutions

technologies used: Twig, jQuery

Working at Atabix was my first frontend developer job. During my time at Atabix I worked on websites for a lot of different clients, ranging from Boldking to Daarnhouwer. I primarily used Twig templates and jQuery.

Personal interests

In my spare time I play and watch a lot of basketball. I can't get enough of it; basketball is just a beautiful game 🏀. I also enjoy skateboarding, doing yoga and going to the gym.

When I'm not on a basketball court, skateboard or yoga mat, I spend most of my time with my girlfriend and our seven-year-old son Eden 👼.

Besides all of the above, I'm really into fashion and I enjoy playing video games every now and then.
